Stop press! Book Bunk are coming to Glasgow Women’s Library!
We are completely thrilled to be welcoming sister organisation Book Bunk to the library this August! Co-founders Wanjiru Koinange and Angela Wachuka and some of the Book Bunk team will be here for a week-long research trip and we’d love them to meet you! We have some events happening that are the perfect way to connect….
A big, warm Story Café welcome to Book Bunk co-founder and writer Wanjiru Koinange. Her debut novel, The Havoc of Choice, is a story about family, politics and journeying through a fractured country in a delicate time, based on events surrounding the 2007 Kenyan general election. It follows the lives of Kavata, a politician’s daughter, her husband Ngugi who decides to run for office, and their children, at a time when their country was going through widespread violence, shortly after the poll results were announced. Wanjiru’s novel is a deeply personal attempt to understand the root of this spontaneous yet organised conflict and to figure out what healing even looks like for the people of Kenya.
This event is for women only* and there is no need to book. There are two ticket options for this event: a £2 ticket and a Free ticket. If a ticket price of £2 is in any way a barrier to you attending this event please choose a Free ticket. We also offer a Free ticket if you are a Friend of GWL.
*All women-only events are inclusive of Trans and Intersex women, as well as non-binary and gender fluid people.
Glasgow Women’s Library is wheelchair accessible, with lifts to the first floor and the Mezzanine Floor.
