We are pleased to launch our new short film Shifting Sands, which tells the story of a woman in an abusive and controlling relationship that is stripping away her sense of self by taking away her liberty and freedom.
Charting a journey of survival and hope, this timely and important screening is part of 16 Days of Action Against Gender-Based Violence and follows new Scottish legislation criminalising psychological domestic abuse and coercive and controlling behaviour.
Doors at 10.45am for the screening to begin at 11am.
The film screening will be followed by a Panel discussion and Q & A with Debbie Forrester and Mariam Ahmed.
Debbie Forrester is the Detective Superintendent of Domestic Abuse, Forced Marriage, Honour Based Abuse and Stalking & Harassment Specialist Crime Division. Debbie will be discussing the use of the new legislation and how Police Scotland have made the legislation work for victims of coercive control. Mariam Ahmed has worked for over 10 years supporting survivors of Domestic Abuse and Coercive control. She delivers training to Police Scotland as a Domestic Abuse Specialist and survivors experience’s on coercive control. She will be focusing on a women’s emotional journey when experiencing domestic abuse and coercive control.
