The final exhibition in GWL’s 25th year is a photographic portrait of women who helped to create the Library, and is a powerful and fascinating record of the growth of a unique organisation through collaborative working.
This exhibition evokes a recognition of the thousands of women who have created GWL and how important it is to record cultural and political contributions. However, the photographs contain figures whose names are lost, at events and activities that we have no record of, at a date and time unknown. We need your help to put names to the faces. She Made the Library encourages you interpretations and comments and the addition of your own photographic records of GWL’s history.
Join us at the exhibition launch on Thursday 17th August and find all our upcoming GWL25 events here.
We are active each day at GWL making sure women and their histories are remembered. This year we have been taking time to remember and record our own. We need your help in naming and honouring the women who have been involved in our history. If you’re not able to come to this exhibition, get in touch or tweet us at #GWL25 with your nuggets of recollections and help us in our efforts to provide the bigger picture of the history of GWL.
This exhibition is free to attend and there is no need to book. For opening times see the ‘Where to Find Us’ section of the website.
