Seeing Things is a group that meet up to see art, performances and cultural events put on by women across Glasgow and beyond. We think it’s more fun to go to see things together, and we usually have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards. Our trips are always free. It would be great if you could come along!
What: A visit to Glasgow Zine Library!
When: Wednesday 27th February, 3 – 5 pm
Where: We will meet at St Enoch subway station to walk to the library together. The library’s address is16 Nicholson Street, G5 9ER.
Who With: Aike & Freya
Why you should join us: Since we are from the women’s library, we wanted to visit another exciting library in Glasgow: the recently opened Glasgow Zine Library! It is a community-based library on the Southside, where you can browse loads of zines!
A zine is a self-published magazine, usually reproduced via a photocopier, and can be about anything. The Zine Library has a great collection, including zines about photography, art, nature and animals, feminism, and zine by LGBTQ+ people and people of colour too. We will meet some of the volunteers who work at the library, and then spend some time browsing, looking at & reading the zines! We can also visit the exhibition space of art gallery 16 Nicholson Street, which is located above the Glasgow Zine Library.
ACCESS
Glasgow Zine Library is a 0.4 mile / 650 meter walk from St Enoch subway station. If you would prefer, Aike or Mattie can also meet you at Glasgow Women’s Library to take a taxi to the Zine Library together.
Glasgow Zine Library is completely accessible: there is a ramp for wheelchair users to enter the building & an accessible bathroom. There is varied seating, including a couch, an armchair, two beanbag chairs, and several stools and benches.
