On the 5th of February, Seeing Things are going on an adventure to arts centre Platform in Easterhouse, and we would be delighted if you would join us.
What: seeing Helen de Main’s exhibition You know, things like that & taking part in Platform’s friendly knitting group. Beginners welcome!
When: Monday 5th February, 10.15 AM – 2 PM
Where: Glasgow Women’s Library, Landressy Street
Who With: Seeing Things volunteers Aike and Linda
Why should you join us: We will start the trip by taking a look at Helen de Main’s exhibition called ‘You know, things like that.’ Over the past year, Helen has met up with a group of local women at Platform. They were all members of the Platform knitting group, and together they talked about education, work / housework, and their experience of being daughters, wives, mothers and grandmothers.
Then, we will join in with this knitting group, that has the fantastic name of ‘Clack and Yak’. We can have a chat about the exhibition, while having some tea and knitting, sewing or crocheting something for ourselves or friends or family. And meet some new people! It is completely fine if you not that sure about your knitting or crocheting skills, I have never done it in my life so don’t worry about that. Beginners are welcome, so I’m sure it will be fun!
We will meet at Glasgow Women’s Library at around 10.15. Together, we will take taxis to Platform. You will not have to pay for this, and travelling costs to GWL can also be covered.
