Seeing Things is a group that meet up to see art, performances and cultural events put on by women across Glasgow and beyond. We think it’s more fun to go to see things together, and we usually have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards. Our trips are always free. It would be great if you could come along!
What: Nautical and Nice: Artworks Inspired By the Sea
When: Friday September 7th, 11.15 – 16.00
Where: Scottish Maritime Museum, Irvine. We’ll meet at Glasgow Central station outside Marks & Spencers at 11.15, and then we’ll all get the train together to Irvine.
Who with: Nicola and Donna
Why you should join us: We’re in for an extra special treat, including seeing things and writing things! From shipwrecks to shoes, fishing to flares, trawlers to travelers…let women’s artworks at the Scottish Maritime Museum tempt you to write seafaring stories and poems of your own. Alongside creative writing exercises and a guided tour of the artworks, the visit will also incorporate a tour of a shipyard worker’s tenement flat from 100 years ago. We’ll also have time for tea in the Museum’s cafe but bring your lunch to eat on the train! Don’t worry if you don’t have lots of experience with writing in general or creative writing, as GWL’s own Donna Moore will be there to lend a hand.
