Seeing Things goes to Edinburgh

Friday, 3rd May, 2019, 9:00am to 3:30pm

Seeing things
Seeing Things is a group that meet up to see art, performances and cultural events put on by women across Glasgow and beyond. We think it’s more fun to go to see things together, and we usually have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards.  Our trips are always free. It would be great if you could come along!

What: Guided tours through the current contemporary art exhibitions at Talbot Rice Gallery (‘Borderlines’, https://www.ed.ac.uk/talbot-rice/exhibitions/borderlines) and Fruitmarket Gallery (‘Senga Nengudi’, https://www.fruitmarket.co.uk/exhibitions/senga-nengudi/), followed by a coffee/tea break before heading back to Glasgow. As always, tea/coffee is on us and we can pay for your train tickets.

When: Friday 3rd May, 9am to 3:30pm

Where: meet by the lost property office/toilets at Queen Street Station at 9am. We will pay for train tickets.

Who: Lily and potentially another volunteer, watch out for people with a GWL badge.

Why should you join: Talbot Rice & Fruitmarket are always worth a trip (as are Edinburgh’s cafes!), plus this will be a chance to spend some time in the ‘city so beautiful that it breaks your heart again and again’, as Alexander McCall Smith put it.

Accessibility:

Talbot Rice Gallery is approx. 15 minutes away from the train station, and wheelchair accessible from West College Street, with a lift to all floors and disabled toilets on Level 2. Unfortunately, they cannot currently accommodate electric wheelchairs in the Georgian Gallery.

The Fruitmarket Gallery is right next to the train station, and accessible to wheelchair users and pushchairs. The gallery welcome guide and assistance dogs. We have accessible toilet facilities on the ground floor with baby change facilities. Highchairs are available in the café. There are a number of portable stools available for use in the galleries, please ask a member of staff for assistance. There are benches in the resource room. A portable hearing loop system is available for all our talks and events

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions about accessibility and we can contact the galleries!
