WHAT: BLAMM! Presenting the work of cartoonist Kate Charlesworth, curated by John McShane
WHEN: Thursday 4th of May, 6pm
WHERE TO MEET: Outside Unlimited Studios, 25 Hyndland Street, at 6pm
WHO WITH: Nicola
WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN US: This is the opening night of the first major retrospective of Kate Charlesworth’s work, and spans her entire career. This is your chance to get the first look!
Kate Charlesworth is a brilliant cartoonist, illustrator, and writer who is currently based in Edinburgh. She has produced some amazing work for a range of publications and organisations most of you will be familiar with, including Diva, Friends of the Earth, Good Housekeeping, The Marie Curie Trust, The Pink Paper, and Spitting Image, and a whole slew of others.
Charlesworth was the ink artist on the graphic novel Sally Heathcote: Suffragette, a book that will almost certainly be of interest to lots of us at GWL! It was named the Best Graphic Novel of the Year 2015 by the Madrid Booksellers’ Association, and is a fab introduction to the genre if it’s not one you’ve tried before.
Seeing Things will be heading to Unlimited Studios on Hyndland Street for the opening night of this exhibition, from 6-9pm. We will be meeting at 6, but there’s no need to stay for the whole evening if that doesn’t suit. You are of course welcome to come with us for a coffee and a chat afterwards.
This event is for women only and is free to attend. Please email Emily if you would like to attend: emily.ilett@womenslibrary.org.uk. Alternatively, you can call us on 0141 550 2267.
