What: Linder’s Flag and Film for Glasgow International: Artists Talk
When: Sunday 22nd of April, 1pm-3pm
Where: Glasgow Women’s Library, Landressy Street
Who with: Nicola and Freya
Why you should join us: This year, as part of the arts festival Glasgow International, Glasgow Women’s Library are hosting an installation by the artist Linder. A really important feminist artist of her generation, Linder has made artwork of strange glamour and enchantment in Glasgow’s East End.
Linder has made an amazing flag for the Library’s façade, inspired by artefacts in the Library’s collection. Linder has also created a film work, filmed at the Mary Queen of Scots Bower, Chatsworth, Derbyshire, where the queen spent some of the fifteen years she was imprisoned under the rule of Elizabeth I.
In this talk, Linder will speak about the new works created for Glasgow Women’s Library and the links between two sites and collections, GWL and Chatsworth, both with histories of female excess and glamour. We’re really excited to hear from a creative feminist trailblazer in our own GWL!
Come along to hear what Linder has to say, and have a cup of tea and a chat after the talk!
Meet Nicola and Freya at the front desk of GWL, just before 1pm.
