Join National Trust of Scotland for an afternoon of rediscovery as we explore their collections. From the photographic collection of Margaret Fay Shaw on the Isle of Canna and the works of overlooked artist Hannah Lorimer in Kellie Castle, to the memory laden rooms of the Tenement House, we’ll hear these women’s stories and more in a series of fast-paced Pecha Kucha talks.
Over the past two years, Project Reveal and the Morton Project have been recording, documenting and digitising the collections of the National Trust for Scotland.
This work has taken the teams across the length and breadth of the country, from the photographic collection of Margaret Fay Shaw on the Isle of Canna, to the works of overlooked artist Hannah Lorimer in Haddo House; from the memory laden rooms of the Tenement House in Glasgow, to the fascinating Miss Elyza Fraser and Miss Mary Bristow at Crathes Castle. At times, such as when examining artist E A Hornel’s ‘Orientalist’ photographs of women from Asia, they have explored even further.
Wherever the location, and whatever the situation, the untold stories of women have been there. Along with paintings and pots, photographs and embroideries, the Reveal and Morton teams have unearthed, dusted off and rediscovered stories of inspirational and influential women who were – and are – an integral part of Scottish history.
Join us for an afternoon of rediscovery, as we ‘reveal’ these women, their stories and our collections in a fast-paced presentation.
