The brutal reality of mental illness in Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar, the academic campaigning of Nasa Begum, the poetry of Anne Kaier, the investigative journalism of Katharine Quarmby and the short stories of Anne Finger – all have given life to women’s language of embodiment and identity.
