In recognition of Earth Week 2025 we’re highlighting green activism and ecofeminist responses to the climate crisis at our Spring Open Archive.
First held in 1970, Earth Day is an annual event on 22nd April to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The day is more important than ever as the world aims to reach “net zero” carbon emissions by 2050 to mitigate the worst effects of climate change.
In the lead up to Earth Day, chat to us about GWL’s journey towards operational net zero as you explore our museum and archive collections!
From activist art and advice about allotments to eco cook books, party politics and peace campaigning, we hold a plethora of material focused on sustainable living, climate justice and other environmental issues.
As well as digging deep into our archive boxes, you could also check out our Net Zero Handbook and Environmental Sustainability Policy, take a moment to appreciate nature in our outdoor spaces, or share your own top tips for greener living. Every green step matters, so let’s strive together for the changes needed to protect our planet.
Glasgow Women’s Library is wheelchair accessible, with lifts to the first floor and the Mezzanine Floor. We have accessible toilets and all the bathrooms are individual closed stalls and are gender neutral. Our larger Events Space is fitted with an induction loop. A portable induction loop is also available.
Find more information on Accessibility at GWL or contact us and we will be very happy to offer assistance.
