See the first screening of new plays written as part of our Writing for Performance workshops throughout 2020!
Muslim Women Write: 3 Plays in Progress, Saturday 10th April, 1pm to 2.30pm, Online
Last year, in partnership with Stellar Quines, we ran a series of workshops called Writing for Performance: Muslim Women’s Stories, in which participants developed the skills to write their own plays. These workshops resulted in a collection of short, brilliant stories ready for performing. Although the performance of these plays has been delayed, we’re excited to announce the screening of a film reading. Professional actors bring to life the women’s fantastic scripts under the direction of Shilpa T-Hyland. This screening will be followed by a Q&A with the writers.
“Not only has the course taught me so much about writing in general, but it has also made me reach a level of self-awareness about my own creative processes and given me the confidence and motivation to continue. It would not be an exaggeration to say that I have loved every minute of these weekly sessions, learning so much in such a relaxed and fun atmosphere and amongst such good company, chatting, laughing and exchanging ideas over tea and cake.” – Noreen Haq, Writing for Performance participant
We are also pleased to announce further creative writing workshops for Muslim women starting in June. Keep your an eye out for details in our Summer programme!
This is one of our “attend” sessions this Autumn, you can sit back and watch the screening and join in with the Q and A if you have questions.
Please note that this event will be recorded.
