Mixing The Colours – Book Reviewing Workshop

Tuesday, 1st September, 2015, 2:00pm to 4:00pm

FullSizeRenderIn March 2015, Mixing The Colours published our anthology of women’s writing gathered in the course of the project and as part of our Dragon’s Pen Writing Competition. The Mixing The Colours: Women Speaking About Sectarianism anthology features a range of short stories and poetry, including specially commissioned works by Magi Gibson, Denise Mina and Eleanor Thom.

The anthology is the latest addition to the Mixing The Colours Resource – a multimedia collection of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, video, academic writing and more, all with a focus on sectarianism and how women are or have been affected by it in their daily lives.

Come along to this Mixing The Colours Book Reviewing Workshop, where you’ll get the opportunity to explore and use the Mixing The Colours anthology and other books from the resource to help you develop basic book reviewing skills. You’ll think about ways to hone your critical skills to reflect on what you’ve read, and to share your reading experiences and recommendations with confidence. You’ll also have chance to take a look at some examples of reviews, to think about what you look for in a book review, and to go away and write your own review of a book from the resource if you decide you’d like to. Nervous beginners are especially welcome!

All participants will receive a FREE copy of the Mixing The Colours book.

This event is open to women only. This is a free event, but as space is limited booking is required. You can book a space by emailing rebecca.jones@womenslibrary.org.uk or by calling 0141 550 2267.
