Penny Anderson unveils her exhibition of the real and imagined testimonies of women doing laundry on Glasgow Green. These women witnessed tumultuous historic events: executions, the Calton Weavers’ Massacre, the camp of Bonnie Prince Charlie, and Poll Tax, Suffragette gatherings and many other meetings and rallies. Silver, real and imagined will be sewn onto white cloth and displayed on the historic laundry poles on the Drying Green in Glasgow Green.
Find out more about Penny’s work at a Meet the Artist event in the library on Saturday 27th August from 1pm to 3pm. Meet at GWL, for a walk to the exhibition which takes place in Glasgow Green and an interactive artist’s talk by Penny.
