The Refugee Survival Trust and Glasgow Women’s Library hope that you will join them to launch Book Week Scotland and the 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women.
This event will feature film and poetry about women’s experiences of disempowerment and resilience, from the Making it Home project. Four short screens from this project will be screened, followed by a panel discussion led by award-winning poet Claire Askew on the power of images and poetry to generate resistance against gender-based violence.
Taking place at the end of 2012, Making it Home used poetry-based film-making to build bridges of shared experience, dialogue and integration between two very diverse groups of women across Scotland: women who are refugees supported by Maryhill Integration Network (Glasgow), and local women from Women Supporting Women in Pilton (Edinburgh).
