In discussion with our event partners, these events has been postponed due to ongoing concerns around Covid-19.
Can you name a Renfrewshire heroine? How are women’s lives reflected in Renfrewshire’s towns and villages? How are they celebrated or remembered? Bring your stories and ideas to this exciting new project. A chance to try out something new, take part in creative workshops and make friends.
We’re excited to be working with Johnstone-based Kairos women’s project and Renfrewshire-based RAMH (Recovery Across Mental Health) in a creative project celebrating women in Renfrewshire. We’ll be working with local women to look at how women are represented and remembered in the area. The project will draw on the memories, stories and creative skills of local women and will run until September 2020, when an exhibition and celebration event is planned. The project will also link with women in Furth in Germany, which is twin-towned with Paisley.
This project is a partnership between GWL, Kairos and RAMH and is supported by the Renfrewshire Council culture, heritage and events fund.
“It was really relaxing to be around other women, of all ages…quizzes, films, archive materials, chats..the best thing was the laughter..” – Women’s history workshop participant, Johnstone
This event has been postponed.
As of Wednesday 18th March, Glasgow Women’s Library is closed until further notice. We believe that closing our doors is the best way to slow the spread of Covid-19. We are no longer taking bookings for events in our Spring programme, in the understanding that they may not go ahead. If you can check in at the end of April for updates on our website and social media, or by email, please do so. You can find more information on our response to Covid-19 here.
This event is women only* and is open to all 16+ women resident in Renfrewshire, free to attend. Please book by contacting Katy on katy@activecommunities.co.uk or calling 07414081979.
*All women-only events are inclusive of Trans and Intersex women, as well as non-binary and gender fluid people.
This event takes place at Kairos Women’s Centre, 8 Quarry Street, PA5 8DZ, Johnstone. The centre is in central Johnstone, across from the old Johnstone police station, just in between the butchers and the beautician. There’s a free car park right out the front, and it’s a 5-minute walk from the main bus stops and a 10-minute walk from Johnstone train station.
The venue is wheelchair accessible with a large accessible bathroom. There are dip curves and ramps at both ends of the street but not directly from the carpark.
