Illuminated letters for ESOL students. This Illuminated Letters workshop is for women who are studying English as a second language. This event is in partnership with WEA Women @ Work.
11am-1pm, Thursday 24th October
Spectrum Centre, Margaret Street
Glasgow Women’s Library and the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow are inviting women across the world to write illuminated letters of love and honour to an inspirational woman.
We are inviting women and girls locally, nationally and internationally to create their own illuminated letters to lost heroines: women who are no longer alive but whose histories and achievements are secreted safely in the shelves and boxes of the Women’s Library. All the letters received will be exhibited on International Women’s Day in March 2014.
Explore our treasure chest of gems, embellishments and other craft and writing materials and create an illuminated letter to a woman who inspires you.
The letter can be as long or as short as you like. We can help you write it and you don’t need any artistic or craft experience. We have compiled a list of 100inspirationa women, but we would be delighted if you wish to write a letter to a local woman or another woman who has been important and inspirational in your life.
If your heroine is not on our list, it would be great if you could bring a picture and some information about her to add her to our archive.
