Home where home is not: Creative Workshops

Saturday, 10th November, 2018, 2:00pm to 3:45pm

Model House made by women from South Asia, Glasgow Women’s Library

Maybe you have lived in Glasgow all of your life? Perhaps you have moved here from some other place in Scotland or the UK? Perhaps your parents came here for work or safety? Or maybe, like the artists, you came here from another country and have made Glasgow your home?

Artists Sogol Mabadi (Tehran, 1985) and Birthe Jorgensen (Copenhagen, 1975) are looking for a small group of women to explore what it means to feel at ‘home’ as women today. These creative workshops will be led by Sogol and Birthe, in the run up to their exhibition project, Home where home is not, in summer 2019.

You can come to as many sessions as you can. All women are welcome and the artists are particularly keen to welcome Muslim women.

Creative Workshops: Home where home is not, Saturday 10th November, 17th November, 24th November, 1st December, 8th December, 2pm to 3.45pm, Women only

Regardless of where we are from, why you came and how we got here, most of us connect the feeling of ‘home’ with more than one time and place.

In these workshops we will share and hear women’s experiences, knowledge and expertise in terms of making and keeping a ‘home’ through conversation, audio recording and model making. You can come to as many sessions as you like.

Travel and crèche support can be provided. If this is helpful please email katie.reid@womenslibrary.org.uk or call Katie at the library on 0141 550 2267.

These workshops and the forthcoming exhibition are in partnership with Platform.
