An illustrated talk about the major role played by women in bringing gardens and creative outdoor play to the Old Town of Edinburgh.
6.30-7.30pm, Tuesday 1st Ma, Conference Room, Edinburgh Central Library
In the early years of the 20th century, children living in the slums of Edinburgh’s Old Town had virtually no access to green space. Within a few years, two pioneering initiatives – the Free Kindergartens and the Outlook Tower – created more then fifteen children’s gardens.
Jean Bareham will give an illustrated talk about the major role played by women in bringing gardens and creative outdoor play to the area.
Free of charge but advance booking is essential. Book online at www.edinburghreads.eventbrite.
