In advance of the forthcoming Glasgow International 2016, Director’s Programme artist Sheila Hicks will be presenting at Glasgow Women’s Library on her pioneering textile works and practice.
Drawing on traditions of weaving, architecture, fashion, and her own personal narrative, Sheila Hicks’ fibre-based works reveal a remarkable understanding of colour, fibre and texture. This is a unique opportunity to listen to Sheila discuss her new work to be included in the group exhibition at Tramway.
Hicks has had a long and prolific career. In 1957, she received a Fulbright scholarship to paint in Chile and while in South America she developed her interest in working with fibres. After founding workshops in Mexico, Chile and South Africa, and working in Morocco and India, she now divides her time between her Paris studio and New York.
Please book through Glasgow International 2016 website here. This event is now fully booked.
