We are very excited to be involved with the Edinburgh International Film Festival this year!
A very rare opportunity to see Margaret Tait’s debut film, Blue Black Permanent, twenty years after its release. A haunting and magical film about a daughter’s attempts to come to terms with her mother’s mysterious death. This is a delicate and poetic work of intense emotion.
This special screening will also include a two-minute preview of Margaret Tait: Film Poet, a short film that documents the story of this elusive filmmaker and poet through her friends, family, and peers produced by Glasgow Women’s Library, with filmmakers Marissa Keating and Michael Jones.
There will also be poetry readings and Q&A with Gerda Stevenson, star of Blue Black Permanent, and Sarah Neely, Editor of recently published Poems, Stories and Writings by Margaret Tait.
Booking is essential. All bookings to go through the Edinburgh International Film Festival website. Please click here to visit the EIFF site.
Glasgow Women’s Library will also be holding a celebration of Margaret Tait’s work at the CCA in Glasgow in August. This event will include further screenings of Blue Black Permanent, the première of Margaret Tait: Film Poet, and the Glasgow book launch of Poems, Stories and Writings.
