PLEASE NOTE THIS SESSION HAS BEEN POSTPONED. THE NEXT TWO SESSIONS IN THE DENNISTOUN WOMEN’S HERITAGE PROJECT WILL BE ON 18TH AND 25TH AUGUST. SIGN UP ON OUR EVENTS CALENDAR.
Who are the women in Dennistoun’s past? Maybe you have a story of a local woman who deserve to be remembered or would like to learn new skills in how to research and discover your local history?
This session will be a beginners creative writing session (including poetry, stories or memoir) where we can gather and record or write about the personal stories and themes of women’s lives in Dennistoun. Bring along your own stories or photographs of women in your family or other Dennistoun women if you like, but you don’t need to bring anything as we will have materials and ideas to get you started.
Discover Women’s History in Dennistoun, Friday 9th June to 25th August, 9.30am to 11.30am, Culloden Street Hall, 1 Culloden Street, Dennistoun, Free, Women only
In this exciting new project, we’ll discover the hidden stories of local women and then help to develop a new women’s heritage trail and booklet. We’ll also be taking field trips and sharing our own memories.
You don’t need any previous experience of heritage work – we will include training and support. This project is a chance to make new friends, develop new skills and share your stories of women in Dennistoun.
“I really enjoyed…meeting new like-minded people and making new friendships, sparking memories of good times, the opportunity to share … and gaining …an appreciation of how things were for female family members and other women” East Dunbartonshire women’s heritage project participant
This project is offered with support from Glasgow City Council Local Area Fund
The event is free and for women only* (16+). To attend, please book below and we will share an email invitation with you. If you would like to make a donation to Glasgow Women’s Library, you can do so here.
