Book Week Scotland is a week-long celebration of books and reading, taking place from Monday 23rd November to Sunday 29th November, and this year’s theme is Transformation. It’s our first Book Week Scotland in our beautifully transformed new home, so we’re celebrating in style.
Throughout the week, we want to hear your voices, views and visions on books reading and the future of GWL. Pop into the library or visit our website and tell us what reading means to you, wax lyrical about your favourite book, or share the impact GWL has had on your life. We’d love to know what makes us unique and what we do best, but also what we could offer and do better.
On Wednesday 25th, we’ll be offering inspiring guided tours of our beautifully refurbished building at 10am and 2pm (45mins). Discover some of the wonderful gems in our Collections, including girls annuals, rare books and knitting patterns.
On Thursday 26th, we’re thrilled to welcome back South African poet Toni Stuart to our Story Cafe, 12.30-2.30pm. Don’t miss out on this unique poetry experience! On Friday 27th, join us for our Bring and Borrow Book Bonanza 12pm-2pm, where we’ll be aiming to announce our 3,000 borrower and Scottish poet Sheila Templeton will be presenting them with a wonderful, book-themed prize, as well as treating us to some of her fabulous poetry. Become a Borrower during Book Week Scotland to put yourself in the frame. Bring along a book you think GWL readers might relish to add to our unique all-donated collection, or borrow something new from our lending collection, available in its full glory for the first time. Tea, cake and fantastic book recommendations will be provided.
