Join us this September to celebrate the launch of our new programme!
This Autumn our launch day coincides with the opening of artist Kate Downie’s exhibition, Conversations with Joan: a display of new works exploring childhood and relationships of care and creativity, centred around her recreated and completed version of Joan Eardley’s final and unfinished painting, Two Children. The launch will be an exciting opportunity to be amongst the first to see the painting on its public debut. In the evening session Kate will speak about her work and how it has brought her closer to thinking about Joan, the relationships bound up in her practice and the types of care that exist beyond nuclear families.
We will be joined on the day by local organisations who will be sharing more about what they do, and the Glasgow Women’s Library team will be telling you about the upcoming events in our new programme. There will also be the opportunity to join a bespoke tour of the Library, centred around the stories of care that occur throughout the building, shared by GWL staff and regular users. And throughout the day our volunteers will be hosting a book sale in the main Library space.
So do come along and join us on the day, whether you are new to the library or a well-seasoned visitor, we look forward to welcoming you.
