Artist Catalina Barroso-Luque gives a reading of her recent text-work A Loving Aneurysm.
This personal exploration of the ‘female lament’ as a source of creative energy plays with ideas around touch, voice, and emotional stress. The text explores how writing can become a ‘second body’ to that of its author, and from which the author can gain a sense of personal agency. After the event the reader’s body will be replaced with printed versions of the text, ‘supplanting the just lost intimacy between voice and listener.’
This event is part of Catalina’s new body of work looking into the somatic and psychological embodiment of writing, which she is developing as part of the Glasgow Sculpture Studios Graduate Fellowship Programme.
