Christmas Reading Ideas

With Christmas fast approaching here is a list of some books I have put together which may make you laugh, cry or even both over the holidays. The Glasgow Women’s Library will close for Christmas on the 21st of December so make sure you visit in time to enjoy your books over the festive period.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

A true classic, well loved by generations. Little Women follows sisters Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth – four ‘Little Women’ – as they endure hardships, adventure, love and heartbreak during their own journeys from childhood to womanhood taking place during the American Civil War. Whilst the four sisters may vary in personalities they are united in their love for one another and their family.


Small Pleasures by Clare Chambers

Set in the suburbs of South East London in 1957 this book joins local journalist Jean Swinney on her newest assignment – to uncover the truth of a reported virgin birth. Love Again by Rasheda Ashanti Malcolm
