Tuesday 6th August – Saturday 17th August
The National Gallery’s mobile art studio will be visiting us for two weeks in Glasgow this August. They will be holding sessions at the Glasgow Women’s Library in Bridgeton, in our new garden and with groups around Glasgow. See this list of family-friendly events and drop in sessions to try your hand at something new:
Story Café, Thursday 8th August, 1pm-2.30pm – Book here
We’re delighted to welcome The Art Road Trip to our regular Story Cafe! In the first half of our session, sit back, relax and listen to a story and poem connected to women and art. After our tea break, The Art Road Trip will share techniques on how to ‘read’ paintings. Taking a painting from the National Gallery’s collection and spending time looking, thinking and imagining the stories within it. There will be space for mindful looking, as well as open group discussion. Pull up a chair and join us..
Women Making It Special, Friday 9th August, 10.30am-2pm – Book here
An action packed event of creativity, play and celebration of women artists in the National Gallery’s collection. You can make your own personalised badge, take part in making a collaborative installation and even have a go at some drawing games. The Art Road Trip team will also be doing some ten-minute talks throughout the day for anyone who wants to know more about the wonderful women artists in the collection. Activities are for all ages, we look forward to seeing you there.
Drop-in session, Saturday 10th August, 12pm-4pm – No need to book
Join us as we create a collaborative artwork using embroidery, shapes, colours and textures inspired by the National Gallery’s collection. The artwork will be made throughout Art Road Trip’s stay in Glasgow and will be displayed afterwards in GWL to celebrate this exciting partnership.
