During 16 Days of Action Against Gender Based Violence, Glasgow Women’s Library and Amina – The Muslim Women’s Resource Centre are taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge.
Together, we’re raising vital funds for our partnership project YOU CAN CHANGE THIS.
Starting on #GivingTuesday, November 28th, you’ll have 7 days to donate to our online fundraising campaign here (the donate button goes live on 28th November at 12 noon). Every donation made during this week will be doubled!
One Donation, TWICE the impact.
Save the date and double your donation to help us tackle Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
Violence Against Women and Girls is one of the most prevalent human rights violations globally, directly affecting 1 in 3 women and girls around the world. Minority groups face additional barriers in leaving abusive relationships and reporting them.
Over the past 5 years, through our partnership working, we have supported Muslim and BME women in the following ways:
- 2,500+ attendees at VAWG workshops
- 50,000+ online engagement with VAWG campaigns and videos
- 7,000+ calls to the Amina Helpline
- 2000+ calls specifically about domestic abuse
The campaign is an online fundraising campaign and we will split all the raised funds between Amina MWRC and Glasgow Women’s Library.
You Can Change This is a partnership project between Amina MWRC and Glasgow Women’s Library for 16 Days of Action Against Gender Based Violence focusing on intergenerational trauma, raising awareness of extended family abuse and coercive control experienced by BME women in Scotland through workshops and creative outputs.
16 Days of Action Against Gender Based Violence is an international campaign that runs from 25th November (the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10th December (Human Rights Day) and encourages action and awareness against all forms of violence against women and girls. You can learn more about #16DaysofAction here.
