GWL is exploring women’s health inequality with artist Olivia Plender and would love your input!
Following on from her beautiful redesign of our community room, inspired by The Boston Women’s Health book collective’s Our bodies, Ourselves, Olivia will be holding a series of meetings, this October, to share and compare her own experiences with having a chronic health condition to those of others.
Meetings will be a space for participants to share struggles within a medical system that still often dismisses ‘women’s problems’ and how this relates more widely to experiences of racism, sexism, queer and transphobia. And to share valuable knowledges including coping strategies, techniques for dealing with doctors, employers and the authorities as well as methods for self-care.
To register you interest, find out more and tell us how you would be able to participate, please email info@womenslibrary.org.uk or call on 0141 550 2267
Access: Olivia is very happy to discuss your access needs and will plan each meeting in relation these needs. It is also an option to meet online for those who struggle to meet in person, and participants are welcome to attend as many or as few meetings as you feel able.
