Cowgirls and cowboys are invited to join Glasgow Women’s Library for a Wild West meets Wild East event. With dancing and the chance to sample the specially brewed St Thenew lager, it’s guaranteed to be a fun-filled evening!
St Thenew lager was specially brewed by WEST with the help of GWL staff to celebrate International Women’s Day and is named after a legendary Glasgow saint who is regarded as a co-patron of the city. Based at Glasgow Green, WEST brewery is also part of the East End’s cultural landscape and it’s featured on the East End Women’s Heritage Walk which will take place on 15th June. For more information about the walk and to book a place, see here.
Helping to raise funds for Scotland’s only women’s library, the event will be held in the soon to be refurbished space that adjoins the lending library. Building work will soon start to turn the room into a dedicated archive, museum and learning venue, and the refurbishment will mean more items in the eclectic collection will be showcased to the public. GWL has been an accredited museum since 2010, and houses artworks, suffragette memorabilia, items from other important periods in women’s history and much more. By coming to the event, you will be helping to fund this and GWL’s many other projects.
Whether you’re a Calamity Jane or a Montana Belle come along on Friday 13th June, 7pm-11pm and help raise funds to secure GWL’s future. For more information and to buy a ticket, please see here.
