The planning for the Auction of Pleasures is coming along thanks to a wonderful team of volunteers, Jasmine, Emma, Jac, Kate, and Hannah – you have been truly amazing and I can’t thank you enough for all the work you have put in to the auction.
Thanks to the efforts of the Auction team some of the fantastic auction items that those attending will be able to bid on are:
A signed print by Lucy Skaer, from an edition in her series of ‘bank notes’, as featured in 2009’s Turner Prize;
A signed Hannah Frank print;
Two original works by Sam Ainsley, drawings/collages previously shown at the “Atlas of Encounters” exhibition in Chicago, February 2010. Also available is a ‘tutorial’ with Sam for a younger artist;
A unique reading group on the Virgina Woolf text of your choice and private screening with artists Faith Wilding and Kate Davis, June 2011 at Glasgow Women’s Library. The artists will provide Woolf-related refreshments and a private screening of Kate Davis’ short film “What have we got to do with a room of one’s own?”
An original artwork by Jean Thomson;
Prints by artists including Fiona Watson, Kirsty Whiten and Stephanie Spindler;
Signed artists’ books from Sorcha Dallas;
One of Martin Gray’s Glasgow prints.
In addition to all of this there are also lots more items of interest to any arts lover, including
An instrument-making workshop with Muscles of Joy and tickets for a gig!
A place on the Paper, Clay & Ceramics course at Glasgow Sculpture Studios;
A private drawing/painting class with Belinda Gilbert Scott;
– as well as a host of other extraordinary one-off items and opportunities:
Dine Out for a Year!
A bespoke item of knitwear made to a pattern from our archive, spanning more than 70 years;
A trip for 2 on The Drum (the Duran Duran ‘Rio’ yacht!) including dinner and drinks;
Tickets for a production at Scottish Opera, with a behind-the-scenes visit;
A mini-Women’s Library collection of signed books;
…and many, many more.
Tickets are selling fast, and we are luck enough to have an award winning, sell out, legendary female performer lined up for the night – I don’t want to be too mysterious, but you will have to wait for this exclusive announcement!
