After the hectic festive season, it is actually quite nice to return to work and get back to the massive task of cataloguing GWL’s library collection! We have thousands of books which need to be catalogued on our new library management system and it will take some time before a significant proportion of the collection is on the system.
Cataloguing is a great way to get to know the collection and it always amazes me how wide and varied our collection is! Just today I have added Nina Simone’s autobiography, Mary Wollstonecraft’s ‘The rights of women’, a guide to women’s literature and a book on women in Apartheid South Africa to the catalogue. With such interesting subjects, the hardest part of cataloguing is resisting the temptation to read the books!
