Summer is Here

After a weekend of sunshine it definitely feels like summer has arrived, so I wanted to let you all know about some free events we are planning for the summer months:

She Settles in the Shields

This exhibition, held at the Tramway, 25 Albert Drive, Glasgow, G41 2PE, offers a unique opportunity to meet the women who travelled to Scotland from all over the world, in search of family, love and security, from Friday 22nd May to Friday 5th June 2009
There will be a publication launched in July also, keep checking the website for details.

Planting Seeds

Drop in to GWL and help plant the seeds of ideas on how to help the environment in your communities then watch them grow into fabulous practices in people’s homes and work places. There will be goody bags to take away with some tips, seeds, and other goodies.

Introduction to Women’s Studies

Looking for a way back into Education but don’t know where to start? Want to study interesting subjects in a friendly, women-only environment? Come and join our Introduction to Women’s Studies programme starting in August 2009. The course offers the chance to move on to further study in Women’s Studies, Social Sciences or Social Care. It could be a route into employment – or just the chance to try something different and meet some new people.
Information Session: Wednesday, 19 August 2009 – 1pm to 3pm

Additional Summer Activities

We are also planning to run a range of activities throughout the summer for women who want to keep involved with the library. So far thoughts have been on some arts and crafts activities, computing classes, lifebooks sessions, exhibitions and more. Dates haven’t been confirmed yet so please keep checking the events calendar to see what we have planned.
