moving space

The Library is moving. I mean that in two senses as I write. Yards of books and files are morphing into piles of boxes, furniture is being displaced and recycled and the normal footfalling flow is reorientated and all is in flux albeit fluid and structured flux. But, forgive the corniness, the Library is also moving for a few of us this week in the emotional sense. Just a minute ago Liz one of our recent placements left after two weeks of packing, documenting, blogging and learning on the hoof. We are sad to see her go and proud to the brim with her achievements – good luck Liz!

I was moved too by the beautiful work that was laid out yesterday by the Flower Power participants as they reviewed their acheivements before the last garden visit this weekend. Seeing the work I was moved to shift my plans for what was going into the Flying Colours exhibition of Libary learners’ work scheduled for next week to squeeze in some of this.

Maybe its the imminent Solstice (yes, I know Helen, Gen – ‘lunacy theory’ doesn’t wash with all my colleagues…) but there are abundances of moving, energising, uplifting work at GWL just now. Respect too to Mary who worked with Kerry and Gerry on her Life Boxes – these too have had to be found a space in the show…So with the comic rasp of placement Marjory’s ripping parcel tape (the soundtrack to the Library’s life for the last two weeks) echoing round the fourth floor I’ll sign off.

Oh and Helen, Gen, strange that Margory who has the neatest handwriting, is perculiarly gifted at systems and sequencing and is a born text manager… is Virgo, that is, just to recap the Librarian’s sign.
