Janet’s many awards include the Peggy Ramsay Memorial award for Refuge, a powerful and moving drama set in a safe house in Scotland for victims of domestic violence.

In 1996 her poetry collection, Alien Crop was short-listed as Scottish Book of the Year, and Sooans Nicht was Critics Play of the Year. Her novel, Not for Glory was in the World Book Day Top Ten Scottish Books in 2003, and featured as one the nation’s favourite books of all time in 2005. Her historical novels, White Rose Rebel and Warrior Daughter, featuring feisty heroines, are published by Penguin.
