Nnena Kalu is an artist working with Action Space, a visual arts organisation based in London that supports artists with learning disabilities. She creates large, colourful structures of different kinds of material that she has binds together, bringing the process of making art to life. Her art is about form, texture and colour, and constantly changes as she adds more layers to it.

James Pfaff
James Pfaff

Alex & Me is an exhibition showcasing the work of Glaswegian photographer James Pfaff, curated by Francesca Seravalle. Most of the photographs are taken on a road trip through North America in the summer of 1998, but the exhibition also includes painted objects, installations and a collection of journals by the artist. James Pfaff is really interested in autobiography and rebuilding memory, and was helped by Francesca Seravella to turn material from his own archive into a book and exhibition. The work also comments on the lives of others, places and the political atmosphere in the United States as experienced on the road trip.

Ciara Phillips
Ciara Phillips

Glasgow Print Studio are exhibition the work of Ciara Phillips for the Glasgow International. Phillips uses a combination of print, photography and textiles as a way of sparking discussions about current political and social concerns in society. For this exhibition, named Show Me Your Glow, Phillips, along with printmakers Scott Campbell and Ian McNicol, have collaborated to produce a space that displays a range of Phillips’s work and ideas. Through this we can trace the evolution of Phillips’s work, which reflects Phillips’s own belief that exhibition spaces themselves are sites of production. Her work incorporates woodcut, relief painting and etching and uses simple materials such as cotton, paper and tape.

We’ll be going first to Street Level Photoworks and Project Ability from 1.30pm followed by a tea or coffee break and a chat, then back at around 3.30pm to go to the Print Studio.
