Seeing Things – Open Archive: Christmas Yarns

Seeing Things is a group that meet up to see art, performances and cultural events put on by women across Glasgow and beyond. We think it’s more fun to go to see things together, and we usually have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards. Our trips are always free. We are always keen to welcome new people and it would be great if you could come along!
This group trip is to the Christmas Yarns: Open Archive at Glasgow Women’s Library. Below is more information about the event and how to book.
What: The Open Archive: Christmas Yarns
When: Saturday 7th December (12.50 pm until about 2 pm) The Open Archive is from 1 pm to 3 pm.
Where: Glasgow Women’s Library, 23 Landressy St, Glasgow G40 1BP (meet at the round table)
Who with: Doreen
Why you should join us: Dip into the archive collection of knitting patterns from the last hundred years. From the absurd (moth ball novelties) to the ridiculous (woollen swimming costumes?) to the political (pussy hats).
Feel free to bring along your own knitting or just come along and enjoy mince pies and a cup of tea and wander along memory lane.
There is no need to pick up any needles. There is no need for you to have any experience of knitting. There is no need to have any understanding of knitting patterns.
Even if your memories do not involve the clickity clack of people knitting, come and join others as they laugh over their memories.
Access: Glasgow Women’s Library is wheelchair accessible. We have accessible toilets and all the bathrooms are individual closed stalls and are gender neutral. Our larger event space is fitted with an induction loop. A portable induction loop is also available.
You may want to bring an extra jumper as the library is having a new boiler fitted so it is a wee bit chiller than we would like at the moment.

This trip is for women only* and is free to attend. Travel expenses up to £5 can be covered.

*All women-only events are inclusive of Trans and Intersex women, as well as non-binary and gender fluid people.
