Seeing Things visit ‘Home Where Home Is Not’

23rd July, 2019, 11:00am to 2:00pm

Seeing things

Seeing Things is a group that meet up to see art, performances and cultural events put on by women across Glasgow and beyond. We think it’s more fun to go to see things together, and we usually have a cup of tea or coffee afterwards.  Our trips are always free. It would be great if you could come along.

What: Home Where Home Is Not Exhibition at Glasgow Women’s Library & Platform

When: Tuesday 23rd July, 11 am – 2 pm

Where: We will meet at Glasgow Women’s Library at 11am.

Who with: Mattie & Tasneem

Why you should join us:

We are seeing Home Where Home Is Not, an exhibition by Glasgow-based artists Sogol Mabadi and Birthe Jorgensen reimagining fixed notions of home, and what it means to be of more than one place.

After research and group work with women connected to Platform and Glasgow Women’s Library, this exhibition of new works includes installations, wood-carved sculptures and sound works, and stretches across both sites in Glasgow’s East End.

The Seeing Things group will start off at GWL before travelling to Platform where we will see the rest of the exhibition and take a tour of Platform’s many faceted spaces. We will then have a cup of tea before taking taxis back to GWL for 2pm. All transport between Platform and GWL will be organised and paid for and we can reimburse your travel expenses to GWL (up to £5) as well.

Accessibility

There will be transcripts of all audio content in this exhibition available.

Glasgow Women’s Library is wheelchair accessible, with lifts to the first floor and the Mezzanine Floor. We have accessible toilets and all the bathrooms are individual closed stalls and are gender neutral. Our larger Events Space is fitted with an induction loop. A portable induction loop is also available.

At Platform there is step free access to every level of the building. There are induction loops in some parts of the building. They have five accessible toilets all of which are wide enough for wheelchair users, have step free access and easy turn locks. All toilets on the first floor are gender neutral.
