Readers of Colour with Wanjiru Koinange, Wednesday 21st August, 6-7pm, Edinburgh Central Library, George Washington Browne Room, 16+, women only*, free
It’s a huge pleasure to welcome Book Bunk co-founder and writer Wanjiru Koinange to Readers of Colour to share her writing and her work with us. Her debut novel, The Havoc of Choice, is a story about family, politics and journeying through a fractured country in a delicate time, based on events surrounding the 2007 Kenyan general election. Wanjiru’s writing has been published in journals and magazines across the continent including Commonwealth Writers, where she served as a cultural correspondent for East and Southern Africa.
Wanjiru also explores ways in which art and creative production can be used to influence social change. These efforts are channelled through the Cape Town-based non-profit, Africa Centre, where she manages three of their core programs: Artists In Residency, Badilisha Poetry X-Change, and Talking Heads.
This event is for women* of colour and non-binary/gender fluid people of colour. The group is free but booking is essential. To book, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or you can call us on 0141 550 2267.
