Processions and Participation: Banner Making with Helen de Main
14th April, 2018 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
One hundred years ago, women didn’t just tell the world they were equal: they showed it. What does voting mean to women a century on from the Representation of the People Act 1918?
Processions and Participation: Banner Making Workshops, Saturday 24th February, Saturday 3rd March, fortnightly until Saturday 14th April, then Saturday 21st April, and Saturday 5th May, 1pm to 3pm, Women only
Hosted by visual artist Helen de Main, these banner making sessions invite us to talk about what political participation means to us, what our contemporary political concerns are, and to think about the ways in which we can influence and make change in society.
Helen de Main is a visual artist working in print making and sculpture whose practice investigates contemporary and historical depictions of women lives.
Through this series of sessions we will contribute to and create our new banner together. Even if you can’t make it to all the sessions we’d still love you to join us and there’ll be lots of ways you can be involved.
We will take our banner to Edinburgh on June 10th to march as part of PROCESSIONS by Artichoke and 14-18 NOW, a project bringing thousands of women together in creative workshops leading to UK-wide public processions on Sunday 10th June.
We hope you can make it along to all sessions in this series, to book for individual sessions visit the webpage for that date. New participants will be welcomed. All the session dates can be found here.
This series of workshops is for women only and is free to attend. Please book below (you will be taken through the shopping cart but no charge will be made) or you can call us on 0141 550 2267. If you have booked a place and are no longer able to attend please let us know so that we can make your place available to someone else.
