This one-hour guided walk offers a shorter version of our ever-popular East End Heritage Walk highlighting some of the achievements and struggles of the industrious and resourceful women of Bridgeton and Calton, and the radical nature of the area which gave birth to them. You’ll learn about the women of the Templeton factory, the suffragettes, the brazen women of Glasgow Green, and many, many more!

This event is open to all. There are two ticket options for this event: a £5 ticket and a £3 ticket. Our walks raise funds for the Library. Please choose the ticket which you feel most able to pay. All places must be paid for in advance as tour guides are not able to handle money on the day of the walk. Select the number of tickets you want to book below, or come in to the Library to book.
A week before the walk we will email all those who’ve booked with information including the meeting point for the walk. Please check your spam or junk email folders if you have not received this in your inbox. We ask that you do not bring dogs other than guide dogs along on the walks. Should you need to cancel a booking for any reason please see our Women’s Heritage Walks Cancellation Policy.
This walk is a shorter version of the full East End Heritage Walk and is aimed at those who are short on time or who prefer a shorter walk. The route is flat and does not involve any steps. If you’d like to speak to someone about the walk in advance and let us know your access needs, please contact us – we are happy to answer any questions.
Large print versions of the tour guides’ scripts are available on the day.
