8th March at 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm£2 – £3
A chance to hear original songs and poetry celebrating love, joy, sadness, hope and everything that comes with life. Written and performed by young women who are often hidden, these tracks will give you a glimpse of a world too often overlooked. From party bangers to sobby ballads they showcase a wide range of experience and personalities. We want to share our stories – come and be a part of them.
Hidden Rhythms, Friday 8th March, 6pm to 7.30pm, £3/£2, 16+, Women only*
The songs were written as part of a series of workshops run at the Youth Community Support Agency, a youth work charity that works with young people from ethnic minority backgrounds. The young people worked with professional musicians to write their own song. Some of these have been recorded as a momento of the year past.
“I couldn’t even stand up and do a presentation in my ESOL class at the start of this year – now I am singing on a stage in George Square and will be performing at the Glasgow Women’s Library. I would never believe it before!” Hidden Rhythms performer
“I think this is the best song I have ever written – I am starting to get it now!” Hidden Rhythms performer
This project is funded by the Youth Music Initiative and has been supported by Music Broth in Govanhill.
