How Badge-Wearing Women Changed the World

The Badges of Honour team are connecting our badges with other collections in Scotland. If you would like to discover more about the world of women’s badges and the way they, and the women who wore them, changed the world book onto our inspiring and fascinating series of visits.

University of Edinburgh: Monday 12th August,1.30pm
Please note that this trip has been postponed and will now take place early next year. Please do get in touch if you are interested in receiving more information about the rescheduled visit.

The School of Scottish Studies holds an extensive oral history archive that captures the history of the people of Scotland. Sing along to Jacobite songs or catch up on some local Scottish legends. Sit back and let these stories take you on a journey, via the voices of the Scottish people. We might be able to help you with travel expenses for this trip.

The project will include additional visits to other collections in Scotland including:

• Glasgow Museum’s Resource Centre: Wednesday 19th June, 2pm
• Glasgow Caledonian University: Tuesday 23rd July, 2pm
• University of Edinburgh: Monday 12th August,1.30pm

Booking

These events are free of charge but booking is essential. Please click here to book onto one or all of the Badges of Honour visits . Please ensure you detail which of the visits you wish to attend and how many places you want to book when completing the booking.

Tell your story

Over the next few months the door is open to anyone who wants to get involved. Maybe the time is right to add your precious badges to our archive: our archivists will welcome you and invite you to tell us more about your treasures. Maybe you have memories of a badge you loved and lost? Arrange to come in and browse our collection to see if we have a copy and tell us more about what this badge meant to you.  To get involved simply contact our friendly archivists Lindsey and Laura.
