#WomanOfTheWeek Eunice Murray

Follow our new campaign called #WomanOfTheWeek. Each week we will focus on a new, important, historical female writer and post about her and her work. We will be highlighting the lives of the well-known, groundbreaking feminist writers, as well as the, sometimes, lesser known female authors. Feel free to contribute! We would love to hear your input as to what female authors you want to learn more about/or perhaps teach us about.

This week’s #WomanOfTheWeek is Eunice Murray

Our next #WomanOfTheWeek is the Scottish suffrage campaigner and writer Eunice Murray. In 1918, Murray became the first woman to stand in a parliamentary election in Scotland, as an independent candidate in Glasgow for the, local, Bridgeton constituency.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Representation of the People Act, GWL is developing an animated web resource highlighting the forgotten heroines who have campaigned for women across the world to have the right to vote. One of the women featured in this animation project is our very own #WomanOfTheWeek Eunice Murray.
