My experience with Glasgow Women’s Library began long before I began volunteering in May this year. Prior to volunteering I had attended a few different events sparking interest in the way the library worked and curiosity about the opportunities it could provide.
Feeling inspired, I contacted Gabrielle the Volunteer Coordinator and a few weeks later I began volunteering. Since starting as a volunteer I have been working along side Hannah the Digital and Marketing Officer on various different projects such as developing GWL’s page on Google Arts and Culture and writing an article on GWL’s poster collection.
As well as allowing me to learn and develop skills, volunteering has also reignited my love of reading which I had fell out of the habit of. The staff and other volunteers are always happy to chat about book recommendations and share their favourite classics.
