NMRD Object of the Month: First issue of Inside Line magazine

Established in 2012, the National Museum of Roller Derby (NMRD) is the UK’s first permanent collection of ephemera and memorabilia relating to the sport of Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby. In 2016, to celebrate our new permanent home in Glasgow Women’s Library’s new Bridgeton HQ, we bring you an ‘Object of the Month’ from our ever expanding collections.

We want your old team shirts, flyers, zines and other paraphernalia to illustrate the remarkable development of the sport in the UK. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for future announcements on how to donate items to the Museum.

September

First issue of Inside Line magazine, September 2011.

Founded, edited and produced by Jessica Rammit, roller derby athlete and graphic designer, the first issue of Inside Line magazine was published in September 2011. The 48 page magazine was in production for four years, and the 16th issue was the final issue published in June 2015. Inside Line was the the first UK based roller derby quarterly magazine in production and described itself as “[not] just about the blood and guts of the game – it’s about the fleshy goodness that surrounds Roller Derby and the people who make it all work.” The publication showcased the creative side of the sport with illustrations, photography and articles from members of the roller derby community.
