Dotter of her father’s eyes

Dotter of her father’s eyes by Mary M Talbot and Bryan Talbotdotter

James Joyce is a familiar name but how many people know about his daughter, Lucia? This graphic novel tells Lucia’s story and the author’s, Mary Talbot, whose father was a Joycean scholar. The book is well researched with a list of source books at the end. The illustrations, by artist Bryan Talbot, are wonderfully effective at bringing the story to life. Particularly vivid are his depictions of an art deco dance recital, Lucia’s institutionalisation and the hippy era.
