The Dalit Women of India

Slavery and the Impact on Women Today – the Dalit Women of India.

There are around 100 million slaves in India today: 3 million are prostitutes. Most are Dalit women. Trafficking of Dalits is an unquestioned part of Indian culture. Despite the emergence of India as a world power, poverty and slavery and the impact on women remains a relatively overlooked and yet massive crime.

Beryl De Souza works in India on behalf of Dalits – women who want action which makes a real difference. This evening is an opportunity to hear from Beryl about the on-the-ground projects geared to preventing Dalit women being trafficked and how to help to bring about community transformation.

Wednesday 9 March, 6pm to 7pm
