Book of the Month – A woman in Berlin
This is by no means easy reading. I found I could only manage a few chapters at a time before turning to something more cheerful, but I always came back to it. It’s an important story which happened within living memory and we should never forget the barbarism, but also the courage and instinct for survival, of which humans are capable.

Her Wits About Her: Self-defence Success Stories by Women
By collecting individual stories instead of giving only figures and facts about self-defence the editors have achieved their aims: women are given the experience of survival.

Today marks the start of 16 Days of Action For The Elimination of Violence Against Women, which runs from 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, until International Human Rights Day on 10th December.
